Vinegar is excellent for bathroom cleaning

Vinegar can be a great way for House Cleaners to get rid of dingy film left by soap in a bathtub, an expert has suggested.

Francis Jock of Helium.com said hot vinegar can remove grime from the bottom of a bathtub or shower and provides a good alternative to expensive cleaning products.

He advised house cleaners to simply soak an absorbent cloth in white vinegar, wrap it around a tap and let it set for a minute or two. The acid in the vinegar will dissolve soapy film and leave fixtures gleaming brilliantly.

“For tougher spots, you can try scrubbing the spot with an old toothbrush or a kitchen scrubbing pad soaked in vinegar,” Mr Jock commented.

“When the faucets are cleaned to your satisfaction, you can buff them up with a clean dry cloth to make them shine like new,” he added.

Mr Jock also recommended using vinegar for removing items stuck onto furniture such as price tags, hang-up hooks, decals and labels.

For those who do not like to smell of vinegar, other natural cleaning substances can be used instead, such as lemon juice and baking soda.
