Upholstery cleaners may be required ahead of Wimbledon

People who own property in London may require the services of good upholstery cleaners ahead of the 2011 Wimbledon tournament.

The highly anticipated tennis competition is expected to draw huge crowds once again and many homeowners in the vicinity are looking to take advantage of this.

Plenty are considering letting out rooms in their abodes to fans of the sport for the duration of the event.

This has been encouraged by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), which has stated government tax breaks on the money earned through renting out a room make it all the more appealing.

The Rent-a-Room scheme is designed to offer tourists furnished accommodation, while also helping out cash-strapped London residents.

As a result, the demand for house cleaners could increase as the famous occasion approaches.

“If you take in a lodger, you must tell your mortgage lender or landlord and your buildings and contents insurer to make sure you aren’t breaching the terms of your mortgage,” commented ICAEW’s tax faculty’s technical manager Anita Monteith.

Earlier this year, the body warned self-employed people who partake in such schemes to ensure they leave plenty of time to send in their tax return.
