Firms that specialise in after builders cleaning could be in for a busy few years, as plans to construct 9,000 new homes across central London have been outlined.
Built asset consultancy EC Harris has revealed that the residential units will come at a cost of £21 billion.
Unlike many parts of the UK – where demand for new properties has become subdued – the capital is seeing an increased clamour for abodes.
Cleaning Companies could be required as soon as 2014, as an £8 billion project – which will see 4,000 units being built – will start in the next few years.
The growing popularity of London houses has been attributed to the large number of foreign investors taking advantage of the weak pound, but experts have suggested the situation is volatile and subject to change at any time.
Head of private residential at EC Harris Mark Farmer said: “It is crucial that prospective developers and investors seek the right early commercial advice and engage design and construction expertise with a proven track record in this niche market.”
Last month, a London building project in the Strand was halted, after a fire tore through the site.
