Local children in the Wirral have taken the initiative to embark on a cleaning drive of their local neighbourhood.
The youngsters from Rock Ferry have taken on the job of Contract Cleaners to improve the hygiene level of their surroundings as part of a special environment day organised by Riverside and Bedford Road Neighbourhood Resource Centre.
As part of the cleaning blitz, the children, all aged between five and 14, cleared away litter and other debris that caused a nuisance for local residents. Local community wardens were also on hand to help children clean public areas.
The resource centre has also paid £300 to provide a public skip for residents to get rid of unwanted household items and other materials.
Jayne Branch-Murray, Riverside’s community engagement officer, said: “The children enjoyed getting stuck in with their litter picks. It’s a great way to raise respect for the environment and our neighbourhoods with children and their families.”
The children also made hanging baskets and drew pictures on T-shirts and bags.
