A city-wide Spring Cleaning drive is set to take place across Nottingham this week, it has been announced.
The annual Big Summer Clean will see a number of events take place across the city to highlight the importance of maintaining adequate hygiene levels.
The event kicks off with a “grime scene investigation” on Thursday June 17th and will feature a special forensic squad who will give a demonstration to highlight the potential negative effects of neglecting to spring clean.
As part of the launch, there will also be a Big Summer Clean Fun Bus located on Smithy Row, featuring two environmental artists who will work with local school children to create works of art and musical instruments from recycled waste.
Additionally, there will be a number of Big Question events that will run throughout the clean-up and various Big Summer Clean focus groups will be on hand to work with local residents to highlight the priorities of the cleaning event.
Councillor Katrina Bull, portfolio holder for the environment and climate change, said: “This year, our summer campaign will give more people the chance to get involved and make the city a cleaner place.
“There will be real opportunities provided for people to help set local cleansing priorities and hopefully those tempted to litter and make a mess will be persuaded to change their behaviour.”
