Boastful homeowners are said to partake in some one off Spring Cleaning in order to get their properties looking spick and span so they can show off to their friends.
A new survey conducted by Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks has found that one in ten respondents purposely held a dinner party in order to showcase a new piece of DIY.
Another ten per cent are likely to require spring cleaning services before inviting work colleagues over for some food, the study showed.
The most popular makeovers that homeowners like to brag about are garden improvements, new kitchens and upgraded bathrooms, while 104,000 people have even admitted to hosting a gathering in order to show off a recently purchased hot tub.
Retail director for Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks Steve Reid insisted the high number of house-proud Britons is a good thing.
“It is great to see that homeowners are thinking about adding value to their properties in order to take the next step on the property ladder,” he remarked.
Despite the apparent efforts to improve the value of an abode, Nationwide figures have discovered that house prices declined everywhere except London in the second quarter of 2011.
