Have after builders cleaning firms benefited from Galliford Try results?

After builders cleaning firms may have benefited from the positive annual results posted by construction company Galliford Try.

Bosses have stated that it completed a total of 2,170 housing units in the 12 months ending June 30th 2011.

This marked a 27 per cent improvement on the previous year, as the business profited from an apparent upturn in the property market, with house sales up by 23 per cent.

Cleaning companies that specialise in tidying newly-built abodes may also have had a lucrative year.

Galliford Try chief executive Greg Fitzgerald said the statistics indicated the firm was on track to fulfil its transformational housebuilding expansion plan.

“We have maintained a high quality construction order book, winning a series of valuable projects during the period and maintaining excellent cash balances,” he commented.

Despite nationwide construction cancellation rates still standing at 19 per cent, the company announced it had seen strong demand for new-builds in the south-east of England in particular.

Although Galliford Try appeared to have a good year, statistics recently released by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply suggested that building firms made the biggest number of job cuts seen in the sector for five months in June.
