Gas appliances should be checked while spring cleaning

Homeowners planning to tackle their Spring Cleaning chores have been urged to check that gas appliances are well maintained.

US-based Ferrellgas Partners specialises in propane services and safety and has urged domestic cleaning enthusiasts to ensure they are not endangered by their equipment.

Chief executive officer Steve Wambold suggested most homeowners tend to check fires and other propane-powered devices in the autumn so they are ready for winter use.

However, he stated that “safety knows no season” and urged more regular checks.

Indeed, with the weather hotting up across the UK in the next couple of months, many households may opt to scrape the grime off their barbeques while undertaking their one off spring cleaning.

Although it is essential for griddles to be spotless enough to prepare food on, Mr Wambold raised another important consideration – the safety of the gas lines.

“If you have appliances that have not been used since last fall, such as a gas-fired pool heater or gas grill, have them inspected by a qualified service technician before using,” he remarked.

According to BBQ.co.uk, gas models are very popular, as they make it easier to control the heat of the barbeque than a coal-powered grill.
