Cleaning companies set to benefit from toilet solution

Cleaning Companies employed to spruce up a chain of popular bars could have found a new solution to eradicating bad toilet odours.

The Barracuda Group – which runs a series of drinking establishments nationwide including Smith & Jones and Varsity bars – has agreed a deal with a Teeside biotechnology firm, reports.

CBio will supply its Clearinate product to the company to use in its lavatories and domestic cleaning advocates may be surprised by the results.

The product works in a different way to standard toilet cleaners in that it breaks down the bacteria in urine rather than replacing the odour with a stronger, more pleasantly scented alternative.

Bosses at the Stockton-based manufacturer have insisted the solution is more effective, cheaper and better for the environment than other products.

Barracuda Group buildings manager Paul Pringle told the news provider: “It’s the older pubs which tend to have the problem because they have tiles around the urinals and on the floors.”

The substance is being targeted at hotels, bars and restaurants, though a number of commercial cleaners may also find it useful.

Barracuda was set up in 2000 and now operates more than 200 premises in the UK.
