Firms offering after builders cleaning expertise could be in line for a boom in business following a government announcement.
The authorities have pledged to ensure that swathes of public sector land will be redistributed among house building specialists.
If the mass construction project does indeed take shape, the need for cleaning companies across the UK could be heightened.
As many as 100,000 new properties might be knocked up by 2015, as Whitehall is said to be sitting on land that is twice the size of the city of Leicester.
Already, sites in Oxfordshire, London and Bath have been earmarked for development.
Housing minister Grant Shapps said the government is one of the biggest landlords in the country and has a responsibility to ensure there is ample housing to satisfy demand.
“Over the coming months, property specialists will work to make sure no stone is left unturned and no site is left unused and every department’s plans will come under the close scrutiny of a Cabinet committee,” he remarked.
The picture is not so bright for those offering cleaning services north of the border however, as Scottish government figures showed house building has slowed down.
