Local cleaning teams who work to ensure the UK’s railways are free from rubbish were joined recently by managers and executives from South West Trains.
Managing director Andy Pitt took part in the exercise, volunteering to be contract cleaning staff for a day, with duties including picking up food and drink containers, removing graffiti, emptying bins and cleaning toilets.
The event marked National Customer Service Week, which ran from October 4th-10th this year and South West Trains used to the opportunity to promote its operations.
“We believe this is an excellent opportunity for all our managers to understand what it takes to deliver a better customer service experience for our passengers,” South West Trains head of customer service Andy Naylor said.
During the week, thorough Commercial Cleaning of certain stations took place, including Southampton Central, Basingstoke, Isleworth and Woking, Rail-News reports.
Meanwhile, additional commercial cleaners may be required at Fratton Station in Hampshire, which is to undergo a £500,000 facelift that will introduce a range of benefits for passengers.
